Bill payment assistance is made possible through the Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP), which is administered by the Ohio Department of Development and made possible through the American Rescue Plan.

COLUMBUS – The National Weather Service has issued excessive heat warnings and heat advisories for Ohio for Thursday and into Friday, and Ohio Department of Health Director Bruce Vanderhoff, MD, MBA, is asking Ohioans to take precautions and recognize the signs of heat-related illnesses. “The heat indexes expected in Ohio can truly be dangerous, and I encourage you to take these precautions seriously,” Dr. Vanderhoff said. “In particular, please remember to look out for those who are more vulnerable, such as young children and the elderly.”

Public Transit - Human Services Transportation Plan for Perry County | 2022 - 2026
This plan is the Public Transit-Human Services Transportation Plan for Perry County Ohio. The plan was initially developed in 2014, expiring 12-31-2021. The Current plan covers period January 1, 2022, through December 31, 2026. Transportation is a critical component of the communities in Perry County. Transportation provides access to jobs, education, healthcare, human services and allows all community members, including older adults and people with disabilities, to live independently and engage in community life.

Warmer weather can cause air conditioners and fans to work overtime to combat the heat, causing energy usage and electric bills to increase. As summer reaches its end, continued extreme temperatures like those expected this week can cause pop-up storms with little warning — sometimes bringing damaging winds, rain and lightning. As always, our crews are ready to respond to power outages. We’re encouraging our customers to prepare, too.

Juvenile facility has been serving area youth in trouble for two decades | August 4, 2023
NEW LEXINGTON — For a young resident at the Perry Multi-County Juvenile Facility, his 21st birthday would mark the necessary end of his stay. The facility itself just turned 21 last month, and county Juvenile Judge Luann Cooperrider, who acted as its project coordinator, wants the public to know about the good work it has been doing all those years for male juvenile offenders, and for the surrounding community as well.
Cooling Assistance/Summer Crisis Program Continues | August 4, 2023
GLOUSTER – The Ohio Department of Development and Hocking Athens Perry Community Action (HAPCAP) will help income-eligible Ohioans stay cool during the hot summer months. The Home Energy Assistance Summer Crisis Program provides eligible Ohioans assistance paying an electric bill or assistance paying for fans, air conditioning, or central air conditioning repairs. The program runs from July 1 - September 30, 2023.
