Red Cross: Committed blood donors crucial this fall | October 24 2024
Oct. 24, 2024 — The American Red Cross is highlighting the ongoing need for blood and platelet donors as festive schedules ramp up this fall. Eligible individuals − especially those with type O blood and those giving platelets are encouraged to make a donation just ahead of the holiday season. Blood supply momentum must remain steady, as the Red Cross has worked this month to recover blood products uncollected due to recent hurricanes. Any disruption in the ability to collect blood can lead to an impact on routine and lifesaving medical care.

Perry County Free Legal Clinic | Tuesday, November 5, 2024
The Perry County Ohio Legal Clinic offers FREE legal advice to income eligible individuals who cannot afford private counsel. Services will be provided on a first come-first served basis. Individuals attending should bring all documentation and paperwork that relates to the issue in question. You must bring proof of income. The clinics are held the first Tuesday of each month (none in January and July). Sign in from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The 2024 clinics are held at the temporary Juvenile/Probate Court Location - 106 S. Main Street, New Lexington, Ohio.
Winter Crisis Program Begins November 1, 2024
(GLOUSTER, OH) - The Winter Crisis Program at Hocking Athens Perry Community Action (HAPCAP) will begin on November 1, 2024. Residents of Hocking, Athens, and Perry Counties may schedule their appointments by calling (740) 868-1908 or visiting hapcap.org/heapappt. This program is designed to help households who are facing an emergency situation to maintain and/or restore electric or gas service. This program also provides bulk fuel (propane, wood, coal, fuel oil, kerosene) for eligible households.

Fresh produce and other food items will be available for Perry County residents who qualify for state benefits or with incomes under 200% of Federal Poverty Guidelines.

Flag Lowering - October 7, 2024
(COLUMBUS, Ohio)— In honor of the life and service of former Congressman Dave Hobson, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has ordered the flags of the United States and the state of Ohio to be lowered upon all public buildings and grounds throughout Champaign, Clark, Fairfield, Fayette, Franklin, Greene, Logan, Perry, Pickaway, Ross, and Union counties, as well as, the Ohio Statehouse, the Vern Riffe Center, and the Rhodes State Office Tower today until the day of his funeral. All other public buildings and grounds throughout the state may fly the flags of the United States and the state of Ohio at half-staff at their discretion for the same time period.

GLOUSTER – Hocking Athens Perry Community Action (HAPCAP) is ready to get residents on the road to success with a pilot Vehicle Repair Program. This program is designed to assist individuals who are enrolled in career training, employed or newly hired needing essential car repairs. Residents of Hocking, Athens, and Perry counties may be eligible for up to $2500 of vehicle repairs by an ASE certified mechanic.
