Aug. 5, 2024 — The American Red Cross is experiencing an emergency blood shortage as the nation faces dangerous levels of heat and people head out for final summer travel plans. Since July 1, the Red Cross national blood supply has fallen by more than 25%, and blood donors of all types, especially those with type O blood, are urged to give as soon as possible to help patients receive lifesaving medical care. The Perry County Municipal Court Community Service Program offers a way for people convicted of a misdemeanor to make reparations to the community. The Community Service Program works with County, Township, Village, and non-profit organizations within Perry County. People convicted of a misdemeanor may be fined, required to do Community Service, or a combination of both. Required Community Service hours typically range from 20 to 80 hours per conviction.

July 8, 2024 — This July, the American Red Cross continues to stress that blood and platelet donors are critically needed right now to support lifesaving transfusions this summer. Donors of all blood types are in demand, especially those with type O blood and donors giving platelets. The Red Cross has teamed up with Universal Pictures for the theatrical release of TWISTERS to help avoid a summer blood shortage. All who come to give blood or platelets July 1-31 will get a Fandango Movie Ticket* by email. Dear Perry County Supporter: It’s that time of year when we need your help. The Community Foundation for Perry County (CFPC) is on a mission to end food insecurity in the county. You can help make a difference for families in Perry County. But the clock is ticking…Before Monday, July 15…please make a donation to help us end hunger in Perry County. The information below equates to filling the freezers in PC food pantries for the last 12 months and the families that were served. Last year, with your help, we processed 71 donated pigs, and the Community Foundation for Perry County (CFPC) purchased an additional 49 pigs totaling over 13,125 pounds of sausage to help feed nearly 18,513 people in Perry County through the Fill the Freezer Campaign. Perry County food pantries received the processed sausage from this campaign.
