Workshop Descriptions:

 

Acrylic Painting: Barb Zartman-6/7-11    Grades:  5-8

This is a basic beginner level acrylic art class.  Students will be instructed in the process of completing a canvas painting in acrylic paints.  The focus of this class is to learn stroke work, shading, line work, and color technique in acrylics.  At the end of the week-long class each student will take home a completed canvas painting and have basic knowledge to paint on their own.

 

Ukulele: Maeve and Elliot Boley-6/7-11   Grades: 3-8

Students will learn proper placement and cords for the strings and learn some simply arrangements.  Ukuleles will be provided.

 

Recyclable Art: Sabrina Pouting, Kathy Murdock, Katrina Carpenter

6/14-18    Grades: 3-6

Students will decorate unique keepsake boxes using scrap wood, make a brick from old newspapers and other paper products with their own signature design, do Pop Can Art with cute animals and paint, make money banks out of pop cans, and plastic milk jug windsocks.

 

Keyboarding: Roger Dusenberry-6/21-25    Grades: 2-6

This is an introduction to piano with no prior piano experience required. Participants will learn basic electronic keyboard operation and music theory skills to perform short songs suitable for sharing with family and friends. All materials are provided.

 

Silversmithing Class: Dave Kunkler-6/28-7/2    Grades: 6-12

Each student will receive a silver spoon to shape into jewelry items.  Possibilities are a spoon ring, a pendant or two of each of these.   All the silver, silver solder and findings are included.  Gemstones can be purchased from Dave Kunkler at what he paid for them.  We will also learn how to reticulate the silver to make it unique and memorable.

 

Moving and Grooving with Grace/Dance: Grace Baker-7/5-9   Grades K-3

In “Moving & Grooving with Grace”, students will learn elements of ballet, jazz, and hip hop. Students will also learn modern line dances to well-known songs. There will be time for free-style dancing and fun games. No prior dance experience necessary! Get your groove on, and come dance with Grace!

 

All classes are from 10:00-1:00 daily at the PC Calvary Arts Center located at 447 S. Main Street, New Lexington.  DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION IS POSTMARKED JUNE 2ND. Mail to:  PCCAC, PO 204, New Lexington, OH 43764. Classes are “free” and limited to ten participants. Applications are available on-line at pccac.org or PC Libraries.
