80% of toys end up in landfills even if they are still in good condition. 90% of toys made in the US are made from plastic. Toys are often made of plastic that can’t be recycled in Perry County. When getting rid of toys, donate to secondhand stores, kids in your life, neighbors, or those in need.

Tips for Decorating

  • Use what you have: DIY decorations with items you already own.
  • Use natural items that can be composted after the holidays are over.
  • Buy quality items that will last for many holiday seasons.
  • Store all decorations properly to use again.

 

Gift Giving Hierarchy

  • Wrap gifts in newspaper, paper grocery bags, cloth, or gift bags.
  • Recycle or save all wrapping/bags to use the following year.
