Fall Composting: Wondering what to do with leaves when they start to fall? Leaves are a great source of carbon for your compost bins. Collect fallen leaves & store them for a source of brown materials all year. Keep them in a container next to the compost to make it easy to add to your pile.

Wondering what to do with leaves when they start to fall? Leaves are a great source of carbon for your compost bins. Collect fallen leaves & store them for a source of brown materials all year. Keep them in a container next to the compost to make it easy to add to your pile.
Composting Pumpkins
Instead of throwing pumpkins in the trash turn them into something useful….compost for your garden!
Steps:
- Remove lights, candles, or any other decoration in your pumpkin.
- If you don’t already have a compost, find a shady spot in your garden.
- Smash it up! Break it into smaller pieces to increase surface area helping it break down faster.
- Loosely cover with a carbon source material such as fallen leaves.
- Let nature take over! Use finished compost in gardens or flower beds.
