New Lexington, OH - The SE Ohio Foodbank, a program of Hocking Athens Perry Community Action (HAPCAP), will distribute food for Perry County residents at the Perry County Fairgrounds from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m on Friday, October 20, 2023. HAPCAP Awarded $1.5 Million in Federal CDBG Funds on Behalf of Perry County | October 12, 2023
SHAWNEE & JUNCTION CITY — Perry County is one of nearly two dozen Ohio communities receiving funding to complete neighborhood improvement projects aimed at improving the quality of life for residents. This award will support two separate neighborhood revitalization projects in Perry County. $750,000 was awarded to the Junction City village project, and $750,000 was awarded to the Shawnee village project, both to be administered by Hocking Athens Perry Community Action (HAPCAP).
Thousands of additional donations needed to replenish Red Cross blood supply | October 12, 2023
Oct. 12, 2023 — Since announcing a national blood and platelet shortage a month ago, thousands of donors across the country have rolled up a sleeve to help rebuild the American Red Cross blood and platelet supply. As that generosity continues, the Red Cross is working around-the-clock to ensure patients have access to lifesaving transfusions and must collect 10,000 additional blood and platelet donations – over and above expectations – each week over the next month to sufficiently meet hospital needs. Donors of all blood types are urged to book a time to give now, especially those with type O blood or those giving platelets. Gift cards, chance at $5K for those who come to give during national shortage.

FEMA and FCC Plan Nationwide Emergency Alert Test Sending Messages to all TVs, Radios and Cell Phones | Wednesday, October 4, 2023
FEMA, in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission, will conduct a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) this fall. The national test will consist of two portions, testing WEA and EAS capabilities. Both tests are scheduled to begin at approximately 2:20 p.m. ET on Wednesday, October 4, 2023.

3 Ohio Communities Receive $2.25 Million Toward Improvements to Local Wastewater Facilities | September 22, 2023
(COLUMBUS, Ohio) — Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and the Ohio Department of Development today announced three communities will receive a total of $2.25 million in Residential Public Infrastructure Grant funding for improvements to their wastewater treatment facilities. The Village of Junction City (Perry County) will receive $750,000 to assist with improvements to its wastewater treatment plant.
