HAPCAP ANNOUNCES RENT AND MORTGAGE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

Hocking Athens Perry Community Action, on behalf of the Hocking, Athens and Perry County Commissioners will begin accepting applications for Emergency Housing Assistance (EHA) on May 20, 2020. Assistance can provide up to 3 months of emergency rent or mortgage assistance for eligible households .

HAPCAP ANNOUNCES RENT AND MORTGAGE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

Economic relief expected for some Southeast Ohio residents

Hocking Athens Perry Community Action, on behalf of the Hocking, Athens and Perry County Commissioners will begin accepting applications for Emergency Housing Assistance (EHA) on May 20, 2020.  Assistance can provide up to 3 months of emergency rent or mortgage assistance for households who are:

  • experiencing reduced income directly related to the coronavirus and,
  • have a documented past due rent or mortgage payment and,
  • who also meet income eligibility requirements.

 

“We are eager to provide this relief to our community,” says Glen Crippen, Director of Housing & Community Development.  “Housing has been a concern since the beginning of this crisis.  This assistance will provide a vital service to the community.  The county commissioners have been instrumental in helping us get this program started and we sincerely appreciate their cooperation.”

 

Applying for EHA does not guarantee assistance and will be available on a first come first serve basis.  This assistance is not available to businesses and cannot be used for utility assistance.  Household income limits are below:

Applications can be obtained by the following methods:

  • Calling the housing office at 1.866.992.8858
  • Emailing us at:  jeremy.boggs@hapcap.org
  • Picking up an application at our housing office at 50 Saint Charles Street Nelsonville, Ohio 45764
  • Printing off an application from our website:  www.hapcap.org

 

Completed applications will be received by HAPCAP by:

  • scanning and emailing application document to us at: jeremy.boggs@hapcap.org,
  • dropping off application hard copies and accompanying information at our drop box location which is the HAPCAP Housing office in Nelsonville (50 St. Charles Street Nelsonville, Ohio 45764)
  • photographs of application materials and supporting documentation may be acceptable so long as they are legible and complete and emailed to:  jeremy.boggs@hapcap.org.
  • faxing completed applications to 740-753-2600
  • mailing applications to HAPCAP, 50 St. Charles Street Nelsonville, Ohio 45764

 

All applications will be verified for accuracy by HAPCAP staff.  No face to face appointments will be available to complete and submit applications due to the coronavirus pandemic.

This assistance is made available by the Athens and Perry County Community Housing Impact and Preservation (CHIP) program in which the City of Athens, City of Nelsonville, City of Logan, and Hocking County are partners.  CHIP is a grant funded affordable housing program funded through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Ohio Housing Trust Fund (OHTF) programs.  This assistance is available throughout these three counties and will be available until funds are depleted.
