Appalachian Regional Safety Council

Safety Council Goals: To increase workplace goals and safety awareness. ** To provide an educational forum for businesses and industries, both public and private, interested in occupational safety. ** Promote greater interest in preventing occupational accidents and disease. ** To inform council members of new or revised safety and health techniques, products and/or services by providing quality occupational safety and health programs. ** To encourage positive networking among the members to enhance individual Business Safety Programs.

About Appalachian Regional Safety Council

 

 

Who May Join?

The Appalachian Regional Safety Council is open to all companies, corporations, and individual employers in Ohio. Simply go to our Forms page and complete a copy of the "New Members Application" and fax it to Rita Spicer at 740-342-1685.

 

Safety Council Program Discount Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Enroll with the Appalachian Regional Safety Council by July 31st.
  2. Attend 10 regular meetings or events, at least 8 of the 10 meetings must be Safety Council meetings.
  3. CEO (highest ranking authority) must attend any one Safety Council sponsored function or meeting (CEO attendance counts towards one of the 10 meetings required).
  4. Submitting semi-annual reports is required to maintain membership and they are due no later than July 15th and January 15th each year.
  5. Don't forget to sign in! If you do not sign the sign in sheet, your company will not receive credit for attending. This could hurt your company's chances of receiving the 4% discount.
  6. Please complete a Program Rating Form following each luncheon meeting. Your input and suggestions are very important to us.

 

Awards:

The Division of Safety & Hygiene presents certificates of awards to qualifying companies in the following categories:

  • Group Award - To the company with the lowest incident rate in each group.
  • 100% Award - To each company that works the entire year without a lost-time injury or illness.
  • Achievement Award - To each company that decreases its incident rate by at least 25% from the previous year.
  • Special Award - To each company that accumulates at least 500,000 hours and and at least 6 months without a lost-time injury.
