Shelter dogs are available for an adoption fee of $176.00 for adults and $181.00 for puppies. All dogs that leave the shelter are completely vetted: spayed or neutered, up to date on shots, heart worm tested, given flea and tick medication, have had their nails trimmed, and have been given de-wormer. Also included in the adoption fee are dog tags/license and records for shots given while at the shelter.

 

The adoption fee includes a bag containing:

  • Food
  • Treats
  • Toys
  • Leash
  • Collar

 

The Perry County Dog Shelter typically averages 20 - 30 adoptable dogs on hand at any given time.

In 2023, 647 dogs came in to the Shelter. 318 dogs were placed into the dog rescue system. 192 dogs were adopted out of the Shelter. 137 Dogs were returned to their original owners.

 

If your dog ends up in the shelter it costs $40 to release the dog from the shelter. If the dog does NOT have a valid dog tag the redemption fee is $72 and includes a new tag.  ALL dogs brought to the shelter are given the Bordetella and 5-Way vaccines. They are also wormed.
