Weather Update | August 21, 2023

AEP Ohio encourages customers across our service territory to get ahead of the heat wave’s peak predicted for later this week. Warmer weather can cause air conditioners and fans to work overtime to combat the heat, causing energy usage and electric bills to increase. As summer reaches its end, continued extreme temperatures like those expected this week can cause pop-up storms with little warning — sometimes bringing damaging winds, rain and lightning. As always, our crews are ready to respond to power outages. We’re encouraging our customers to prepare, too.

NPCW #1 Drinking Water Notice | July 12, 2023

Northern Perry County Water #1 (Thornville System) has failed to comply with lead and copper treatment requirements. Our water system recently violated a drinking water requirement. Even though this is not an emergency, as our customers, you have a right to know what happened, what you should do, and what we are doing to correct this situation. We routinely sample water at consumers’ taps for copper. The tests show copper levels in the water above the limit, or “action level,” so we are required to install treatment.
