Join the Perry County District Library staff this fall for many fun events planned for all ages!

 

Fall story time at all locations will begin the week of September 29th.  The schedule includes programs on Mondays at the Crooksville Branch (10:30 a.m.) and the Junction City Branch (6:00 p.m.), Tuesdays at the Somerset Branch (10:30 a.m.) and the Thornville Branch (1:00 p.m.), Wednesdays at the New Lexington library location (10:30 a.m.), and Fridays at the Corning Branch (10:30 a.m.).

Tweens (ages 9-12) are invited to GIANT GAME NIGHT, each Thursday evening, October 3 – October 31, at 6 p.m. at the New Lexington library location.  We will be breaking out GIANT Jenga, Larger-Than-Life Size Bowling, and more, along with crazy game-themed snacks each week!  In addition, on October 24, 2019, at 6 p.m., we welcome magician Shaun O’Keefe for a performance, hands-on how-to clinic and prop building!

October will feature two great Fall Family Night events!  A Lion King Night, featuring African Drumming and Dancing with Tony West and the Imani Dancers and visits from your favorite lion cub characters, will be held at the New Lexington library location on Tuesday, October 22, 2019, at 6 p.m.  On Wednesday, October 23, 2019, at 6 p.m., the Somerset Branch will host Harmony, a Llama tale, with Timberlane Llamas.  Please mark your calendars for these interactive family events…great for all ages!

Homeschool programs will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Fridays, October 4 (Somerset Branch), October 18 (New Lexington), and November 1 (Somerset Branch).  On October 4th, Homeschool families are invited to join us for a "Meet & Greet" event, which will include activities for students of all ages, light refreshments, and an opportunity for parents to network.  MVESC representative Bob Meikle will be on hand to answer questions during the event at the Somerset Branch.  The October 18th event will showcase Sustainable Farming with Blaney Family Farms.  During this interactive program, students will be introduced to the concept of sustainable farming, participate in theme-based activities and enjoy a visit from a friendly farm animals (courtesy of Scott Family Farm) at the New Lexington location.  On November 1st, Students will be introduced to beekeeping in an interactive program presented by Maple Lane Naturals at the Somerset Branch Library.

The Fall Book Sales will be held at all locations during the week of October 6.  Dates & times are as follows: Monday, October 7, Corning (10 a.m.-6 p.m.); Wednesday, October 9, Corning (10 a.m.-6 p.m.), Crooksville, Junction City, Somerset and Thornville (10 a.m.-7 p.m.); Thursday, October 10, New Lexington (10 a.m.-7 p.m.); Friday, October 11, All Locations (10 a.m.-5 p.m.); Saturday, October 12, Crooksville and Junction City (10 a.m.-1 p.m.), New Lexington, Somerset and Thornville (10 a.m.-2 p.m.).

The sale will feature the $2.00 fill-a-bag special, which will include a library tote bag!

 

In addition, a variety of book clubs, including the new “Read, Think, Discuss: Non-Fiction Book Club,” Tai Chi, Yoga and POUND exercise classes, computer & gadget classes, DIY craft programs, knitting club, and more are on the calendar!  For a complete list of upcoming events, pick up a schedule at the Perry County District Library location nearest you or visit the online calendar at www.pcdl.org.
