JobsOhio Update and Economic Impact Memo from JP Nauseef | June 12, 2020

JobsOhio business and community stakeholders,

This week, Ohio’s arts and entertainment venues reopened to the public. The continued re-opening of businesses with the support of leaders like you is building momentum as Ohio emerges from the economic impact of COVID. The road back will be a long one, but these wins and other success stories are worth celebrating.

On Monday, the Ohio Tax Credit Authority held its first meeting in three months, approving state incentives to support projects that have committed to create 1,943 new jobs and over $252,245,000 of new investment in Ohio.

Yesterday, in partnership with JobsOhio and the Stark County Minority Business Association, ELITE USA announced that 13 minority-owned businesses will make up its new cohort. JobsOhio will fund this one-year program, which will provide these businesses with the tools they need to succeed and grow, resulting in new opportunities within northeast Ohio and accelerating Ohio’s economic recovery. This will be the second group of U.S. businesses to benefit from the ELITE program, which supports growth aspirations, promotes global partnerships and facilitates access to international capital.

Ohio also received an Area Development ‘Silver Shovel’ award. Area Development is the leading publication on site selection and facility planning. They make annual awards to states creating a significant number of high-value-added jobs and large capital investments. This recognition for Ohio was achieved by the collective efforts of local, regional and state organizations working for company attraction, retention and expansion.

JobsOhio will remain focused on its mission as we continue to work through many challenges and Ohio will emerge stronger and more competitive than ever!

Our Ohio Safe. Ohio Working page continues to be updated and JobsOhio’s most recent Economic Impact Report, prepared by our research team, is now available.
